Overview

The Monospaced Company built Chores to coordinate household work. Chores does not sell personal information and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission. This policy explains what Chores processes, why it is processed, the services involved, and the choices available to you.

Information Chores processes

• Profile details, including a display name and optional information returned by Sign in with Apple.
• Family membership, invitations, chore content, schedules, assignments, claims, completions, reminders, and optional photos you add.
• A coarse age range and policy version stored only on your device. Chores does not request or store your birthday.
• Purchase entitlement information supplied by Apple through StoreKit.
• Privacy-safe operational diagnostics when you explicitly export sync diagnostics. Chores does not automatically upload that export.

How information is used

Chores uses this information to provide account recovery, family sharing, synchronization, reminders, widgets, purchases, support, and the features you choose to use. Family content is visible to members of the family workspace where it is stored.

Depending on where you live, these activities may be based on providing the service you request, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests such as securing and improving the service.

Apple services

Chores stores account and family data in Apple CloudKit and uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. Apple processes App Store purchases and subscriptions. Those services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. Purchase entitlements are associated with the App Store account, not a Chores family profile.

Advertising on iPhone and iPad

Eligible free users may see contextual, non-personalized inline ads supplied by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process an IP address for approximate location, device identifiers, advertising data, app interactions, crash information, and performance information for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, and service operation.

Chores disables personalized ad treatment and publisher first-party ID, limits ad content to a general audience rating, and does not request permission to track across other companies' apps and websites. Consent and privacy choices are managed through Google's User Messaging Platform where required. Ads are not shown on macOS or to users who own an ad-removal entitlement.

You can review or withdraw an available consent choice from Ad Privacy Choices in Chores Settings. Google may process advertising data under its own policies. Learn more about Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

When information is shared

Information is shared only as needed with Apple for app functionality and purchases, with Google for eligible ad delivery, and with members of a family workspace. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention

Synced Chores data is retained until it is deleted, removed by a family owner, or no longer needed to operate the service. Removed member identities may remain in historical completion records so shared chore history remains understandable. The coarse age range remains on the device until app data is removed. Apple and Google determine retention for information they process under their respective policies.

Security and international processing

Chores uses Apple platform security and access controls intended to protect account and family data. No system can guarantee absolute security. Apple and Google may process information in countries other than the one where you live, using protections described in their policies.

Your choices

• Manage ad privacy choices from Chores Settings when available.
• Leave a joined family from the Family view.
• Delete your Chores account and Chores-owned CloudKit data from Settings.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions in App Store account settings.
• Contact us to ask a privacy or support question.

Depending on your location, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and to withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify the request before responding.

Children

Chores accounts are intended for people aged 13 and older. A person who selects the under-13 age range cannot continue into account-backed Chores. Existing accounts retain access to logout and account deletion.

Changes

We may update this policy as Chores changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
